Nonnie's Birthday

Kyle asked me how old Nonnie would be on her birthday. I told him 29. It's a good thing I did because between Kyle and Nathan all of Greenwood knew it was Nonnie's birthday and she was turning 29! Everyone we came across in stores they would say, 'Hi, It's our Nonnie's birthday and she is turning 29!" They get very excited about birthdays, who wouldn't cake and ice cream and presents. Nathan was quite disappointed that I hadn't planned any birthday games.

Nathan had a little birthday money to spend. He chose this nifty box with crayons and colored pencils and markers. He uses it all the time and is VERY happy with his purchase. Kyle kept trying to talk him into a toy or action figure at the store but this is what he wanted.
Went for a walk at Nonnies and played in the backyard. Bob was visiting so Maggie and Baxter, their Maltese puppies, were both there. They had SO much fun playing with the puppies. All the fun ended when we found the 3 boys throwing them up and letting them land in a big pile of leaves.
We took a walk with Maggie. It was a cold day so Maggie and Dallin kept eachother warm.

Happy Birthday Nathan

Nathan turned 6 this weekend. Saturday he had a super-duper-luper fun swimming party at the YMCA. Then Sunday (his actual birthday) he got sick and spend the day vomiting. We were lucky enough to get the first set of puke all over the van. That was a real treat for Dan to get to clean up. He sent his breakfast flying across the van just as we were pulling into the church parking lot. I was lucky to have a speaking assignment that morning. Poor Nathan. He was sick all day Sunday and Monday. He is back at school today and our fingers are crossed that the curse doesn't spread.

Sorry for anyone with a weak stomach. There were much more graphic shots to choose from, so consider yourself spared!
Dino-Fun!!
My mom and I made the cake at the last minute. It was yummy!!

South Carolina Blizzard

Here is how this particular AM started off last month...
~5:30 AM~
Kyle: "Mom, wake up, wake up!"
Anna: "Is everything ok?"
Kyle: "You're not gonna believe it! It snowed SO much last night. I mean, it's just covered, and so deep. I'm so excited mom! I can't believe we got so much snow!"
Anna: Peeks out the window but can't see anything because it is so dark, hobbles downstairs in half sleep.... this is what I see, a LIGHT dusting.
Kyle: "Told you mom, cool huh?"
Needless to say they did get a 2 hour delay out of it and did their best to try to scrape a few snowballs off the deck. Poor kid, he just doesn't hardly know what a real snow storm would be like. I guess perception is reality.

Grocery Store Adventure

Our family loves to take walks to a nearby grocery store. On this particular trip Dan had his camera in tow. As you can see from the pictures he had the boys hamming it up while I was innocently doing some light shopping.

Kyle stepped in an ant pile and quickly ripped off his 'zipoff' pants in a panic to remove the fire ants.
Surveying the damage
Not sure why someone would buy lard by the pound, but apparently they do...
YUMMY!
I was a little surprised when I looked at the pictures that evening and saw this. Dan can't be trusted with a camera alone with the kids! Something like this ALWAYS happens. I still get a little embarrassed that my child was in the freezer... I spared posting the one where he looks half frozen and miserable, didn't want DSS knocking at my door.
